About Me

Hi, I’m Emma — communicator, collaborator, and climate science enthusiast.

If you’re here, you probably want to learn a little more about me.

Originally from the mountain town of Durango, Colorado, I’ve always been drawn to places that inspire nature and curiosity. That spirit led me to the University of Colorado Boulder, where I began my academic journey in Chemical Engineering before pivoting and completing a degree in Biochemistry. Though I loved the challenge of learning and labwork, I realized my path wasn’t in the lab – I wanted to connect science with people and still work hands-on.

After graduating, I took time to explore my interests in the workplace before diving back into school. That decision brought me to the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR), where I’ve had the privilege of supporting educational and collaborative programs across several teams – from CPAESS and The GLOBE Program to my current role with the UCAR Center for Science Education. Today, I help bring cutting-edge Earth system science from the NSF National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) to K–12 audiences, educators, and the public.

Through these experiences, I’ve collaborated with scientists across disciplines and discovered a deep personal interest in studying climatology further. I’m specifically interested in climate through the lenses of hydrology, glaciology, pedology, ecology, and oceanography. I’m excited to take the next step by returning to school to deepen my understanding of our changing climate and, more importantly, to explore where my career might take me after further academics.

I’m passionate about leading teams, building meaningful partnerships, and making science more accessible, inclusive, and human-centered. I hope to bring my work place skills and scientific interests together.
